Job Description
SCEDP Economic Development Manager
 
The SCEDP is seeking an Economic Development Manager to work collaboratively with business and community leaders to identify opportunities and resources for economic growth by:
 
  • Assisting business owners with workforce needs, permitting processes & coordinating workshop learning opportunities
  • Overseeing Main Street Association efforts and local implementation
  • Assisting with ribbon cuttings, check presentations and key milestone events
  • Managing events throughout the year to promote economic vitality (festivals, shop small campaigns, etc.)
  • Attending local stakeholder meetings
 
The Economic Development Manager will be responsible for:
 
  • Working with labor force agencies to match programs with industry needs
  • Management of the local tourism effort and brand campaign
  • Identifying funding opportunities that support the SCEDP’s mission
  • Offering analysis of the local economy through available data resources
  • Providing assistance to the director & staff as needed (sometimes after regular business hours)
 
Preference will be given to candidates with experience/training with the following:

 
  • Management of social media accounts, newsletters, blogs & other marketing platforms
  • Experience working with journalists / media and composition of news releases
  • Application and management of grant programs
  • Processes related to industrial site development and management
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a team setting and exhibit leadership qualities
 
Skills must include:

 
  • Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws & regulations and standard fiscal management principles and practices
  • Proficiency in standard office software and programs
  • Experience in organizing and leading formal meetings
  • Ability to write and prepare reports, correspondences and other written materials
  • Passion for promoting the efforts of SCEDP, Stone County and the region’s employment and investment base
  • Ability to manage multiple projects professionally
