*The candidate would need to reside in the region and be able to report to a work location in Downtown Jackson.
POSITION SUMMARY
The Greater Jackson Alliance (GJA) — the economic development arm of the Greater Jackson Chamber Partnership — leads regional business development, marketing, and community competitiveness efforts across Central Mississippi. This position serves as the head of the Alliance and is a key connector among public and private partners in Hinds, Madison, Rankin, and Warren Counties. The V.P. of Economic Development and Marketing will focus heavily on leading proactive marketing and communications initiatives, generating new opportunities, and cultivating strategic relationships that strengthen the region’s business climate and visibility to prospective investors.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Development & Marketing Leadership
· Develop and implement an annual business development and marketing strategy that positions the Greater Jackson region for new investment and expansion.
· Lead regional branding, messaging, and outreach to site selectors, corporate executives, and consultants.
· Represent the region at state, national, and international business development events and conferences.
· Build and maintain strong consultant and corporate relationships that drive new project opportunities for member organizations.
· Coordinate regional prospect visits, consultant familiarization tours, and outbound recruitment trips targeting strategic industries.
· Create compelling marketing materials, presentations, and digital content that tell the region’s story with clarity and consistency.
Data & Market Intelligence
· Maintain a comprehensive inventory of sites, buildings, and regional data resources.
· Support member organizations with marketing, research, RFI responses, and competitive data analysis.
· Track and report on project activity, industry trends, and regional performance metrics.
· Maintain memberships to multiple data sources to support GJA members in requests for information, both for projects and local inquiries.
· Create and maintain a list of business locations, expansions, and closures in the Jackson Metro region.
Stakeholder Relations & Communication
· Serve as a trusted liaison among GJA members, utilities, chambers, and state agencies.
· Represent the Alliance in public speaking engagements and media opportunities.
· Maintain strong relationships with community leaders, investors, and elected officials to ensure consistent messaging and alignment.
Marketing Council
· The marketing council consists of private sector stakeholders who operate in the economic development space and who are interested in furthering promotion of the region with the goal of economic and community growth.
· Responsibility for maintaining current membership and recruiting new members.
· Create a yearly plan outlining opportunities both in person and digitally, to engage marketing council members.
· Organize, provide and deliver relevant content for marketing council meetings.
General
· Assist in the preparation of quarterly and other reports as required by members.
· Maintain knowledge of public and private development resources.
· Represent GJA in speaking engagements in the region.
· Oversee and maintain investor relations with GJA member organizations. Lead efforts to grow additional membership/resources.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education & Experience
· Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration, Communications, Economic Development, or a related field.
· Minimum of two (2) years of experience in economic or community development, marketing, business development, or related roles.
· Experience managing marketing campaigns or public-facing communications strongly preferred.
· Certified Economic Developer (CEcD) credential preferred but not required.
Skills & Attributes
· Strong understanding of Mississippi’s economic development programs and utility partners.
· Proven ability to develop and execute integrated marketing and business outreach strategies.
· Exceptional written, verbal, and public speaking skills.
· Strong project management and relationship-building abilities.
· Team-oriented, strategic thinker with an entrepreneurial mindset.
Other Requirements
· Frequent regional and occasional overnight travel (30%+).
· Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and mobile device required.
· This position requires the employee to provide a mobile device that allows for phone, text and email access. This position is eligible for mobile device reimbursement.
· Based on the responsibilities of this position, this position may need to lift and/or move up to 10 pounds
